Why it's in the Cabin

A nice 70s paperback edition of the Shackle, published originally in 1913. It's a follow-up to "The Vagabond", and follows a character that has previously chosen her career and independence as she struggles finding herself in love. A classic conundrum!

Author

Colette

Colette's early literary success came with the Claudine novels, initially ghostwritten under her first husband "Willy's" name. She was extremely prolific, writing over 50 works including the famous Chéri and Gigi,  and was characterised by precise language, keen observation, and a distinct autobiographical flavour. We enjoy her sensual and insightful explorations of love, sexuality, and the female experience.
