Why it's in the Cabin

Queer is a seminal work of gay literature. Burroughs locked this love‑sick confession away for decades, and since its publication it has gained more and more notoriety, perhaps reaching a peak with the Guadagnino's adaptation. A radical, far from perfect, portrayal of queer longing from a wounded, self-hating, disillusioned white American, living in a Mexico City that feels like a withdrawal fever dream.

Author

William S. Burroughs

A was a seminal American writer and a foundational figure of the Beat Generation, notorious for his experimental, non-linear narratives and transgressive subject matter. He pioneered the "cut-up" technique, fragmenting and reassembling text to disrupt traditional narrative and explore the idea of language as a virus. His work profoundly influenced counterculture movements, punk rock, and postmodern literature, cementing his legacy as a radical and uncompromising literary innovator.
