Why it's in the Cabin

A truly gorgeous, special edition collecting Millay's poetry for their appeal to young readers. Regardless of this epithet, this selection includes many of her greatest, most recognised works. The provenance, although not traceable on the book, is a lovely testament of women writers reading each other.

Author

Edna St. Vincent Millay

Millay's poetry throughout her career was imbued with the precocious, rebellious, free-spirited attitude from her youth, when she first came into the public eye. Criticism has been split between praising her undeniable talent, rigour and originality –famously deemed by Harriet Monroe to be the best woman poet since Sappho–, and focusing on her lifestyle; she was polyamorous, bisexual, and a "party girl". We'll take all of it!
